Neck Pain

It’s a pain in the neck!

Neck pain can be really debilitating!
Once you have had it for some time it can be really make you feel miserable.
However neck pain usually responds very well to Physiotherapy and that’s why I have found it so rewarding to treat for 30 years.
In a younger age group neck pain can mostly be divided into two types – Trauma that is accidents , or a gradual onset for no clear reason.

In the case of trauma – your balance is often reduced and gentle stretches and balance exercises have been shown to speed recovery.
Most people however find that their neck pain creeps up on them, their neck is sore when they are sitting and driving, and often find pain turning their head. One day can be worse than another and sufferers usually find their pain varies from day to day. It is not uncommon for Physiotherapy to lead to huge improvements in pain and range of movement.
As we get a little older it is more common not to be able to turn our necks as far. However cyclists with neck pain find that they struggle to look behind them at traffic, Whilst people older than 55- 60 can find that reversing in their car is difficult, as they cannot turn their neck as far as they used to. Whenever sufferers turn their neck the restriction is always the same! Although some loss of rotation is normal as we age however careful and gradual stretching will probably help increase limited neck movement.

Physiotherapy can help all of these situations. Please contact me if you would like help for your neck pain.
